hey guys. i want to put on a oil pressure gauge and still leave my existing pressure switch. where would i attatch my oil pressure hose for the gauge? i have a 81 sporty ironhead. thanks for any and all advise.
You'll need a "T" fitting to run both. On Touring models, the oil guage is electric, and a dual-sensor is used that works both the guage, and triggers the light below 4 lbs.
With a light and a manual guage, you are asking to do an electrical function and an electrical function.
Unless you tap into a port somewhere else for oil PSI and leave the sending unit for the light alone.
Take the oil filter off. Makes it a loty easier. Still, with large hands, it's a B*tch getting it all together. The oil dripping down on parts and fingers and wrenches combined with the "no room to work" makes it hard.
:eek
My switch is in the front of the engine and the oil filter is in the back. There's no way a T fitting is going in there. Do I need a extension or somthing?
