I think this would be a good idea for a sticky so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. Some of these places should be a little more known then they are and I am sure they are locally. Others are well known.

We stumbled on the one in Ohio strictly accidently when I happened to see a blip of a sign and just took the exit on a whim. And wow what a great museum it was. Feel Free to add to the list.

Was there this past weekend. A bunch to see. Over 300 bikes in the basement alone. Movie bikes, stock bikes, racers, hill climbers, customs, trikes, military, sleds and more. Take half a day it's worth the visit.

I am currently sitting in the bar at #6, the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee. I got to see the Willie G. exhibit, the archive tour and the steel toe tour today. I made a full day of it and gave my wife and kids a break they went to a nearby children's museum. I think I was most impressed with the behind the scenes tour in the archives. I saw a couple bikes I had read about but never seen. I was very impressed. Automotive design Museum Metal Technology Tourist attraction

I know this is old thread But think the Gillmore Museum should be added to the awesome list of places to visit.

If anyone is in west Michigan, The Gilmore Car Museum is worth a visit. It's not only an expansive car museum, the motorcycles have their own building. I put a few pictures in an album for anyone that might be interested in seeing what they have to offer. I think I'll tool over and see what's happening on one of their vintage bike weekends later this year. www.gilmorecarmuseum.org

Museum in Solvang Ca. has a great collection of bikes form all over. Cycle bikes in and out keep visit fresh. Only draw back is the help. Have one young lady at desk to collect fees. That's all she knows. Has no clue about the bikes. Been awhile since we have visited may be that's changed ?? Highly recommend it.
