Just cruising down the highway, doing about 70 or so when I spotted a police car up ahead parked on the right shoulder. Speed limit is 60 in that stretch so I let up off the throttle. All of a sudden this guy on a crotch rocket whips past me in the right lane (me being in the middle lane). Few seconds later I see the police car light up and zoom on past me after the crotch rocket. It pays to pay attention while going down the road.
Last week Mary Ann and I were blasting along doing 75 in a 70 and the speed limit drops to 65. I forgot and sure enough at the crest of a hill there was a local cop. He lit up the marbles as a pickup from New York passed us after we slowed down. He went after them. Whew!
Was cruising along I-80 in IL headed for IA last Sunday. Came up on a construction zone with a 45 mph limit. Rolled it back to 45 and sure enough sitting under an overpass was motorcycle cop. When I went by he actually waved at me.
Yesterday I met a buddy for lunch. Decided to take the bike because it was a beautiful day. Traffic is doing 70-75 in a 55, which is actually normal for that stretch of hiway. I noticed 3 different cars pulled over on the other side.
Hmm, must be enforcement day so I moved over one lane and slow down to 65. A black F-150 changes lanes and pulls in behind me, waaay too close. He keeps riding my butt, I guess trying to get me to move over. I can't move over as there's a line of traffic on either side of me. About a mile down the road I see his right signal come on and he slows down. Suddenly there's an open space in the lane to the right of me. When the truck moves over there's a trooper following him. I have to assume that he was getting a ticket for tail gating.
Yeah, it made me smile. Ya gotta pay attention to more than just the bumper in front of you.
Similar thing happened to me riding in the HOV lane. Speed limit is 55, I'm doing 65 and this cage is no more than ten feet behind me matching my 65. I notice a police car to my right in the regular lanes and after a minute he pulls into the HOV and lights up the car behind me and I'm pretty sure it wasn't for being over the speed limit since 65+ is the normal on that road when traffic allows.
I am sick and tired of azzhats in my trunk, whether on the bike or in my car. It sends my blood to the 212 degree mark in no time. I have been tempted to stop in the middle of the road and confront a SOB, but I know this will result in an unfortunate situation for somebody. The War Dept. has had to get me settled down on a number of occasions. She tends to be the voice of reason and suspects that I will be shot or have my ass summarily kicked. But there comes a point where one just gets sick and tired of this BS.
Unfortunately this is a to often tale that never ends well..
In one fashion or another...it always happens to us especially when we're on vaca..traveling down the highways of America...some azz hat always wants to park it's azz right behind us. And wants to ride my azz like it's some new candy flavored sucker..
My solution is hang in the far right lane and slow to the highway minimum..usually 45.. ya I know..it ain't the best solution...but eventually they get off my azz.. I guess they think there going to use me for a tow vehicle..:eek-surprise
But waay to often you deal with a holes that run past us like we're siting still. Usually a few miles down the road...you see them with the po po writing them up.
Just goes to show ya. Everybody has to be somewhere.
