Hello guys. Hoping someone may help here. Today I was riding my 06 Fatboy and got about a mile from home when the engine and electrics died. Coasted to a stop and the electrics popped back on. Now I cannot start the bike. when trying to start the bike the right hand indicator kept coming on. The battery is brand new. the bike was running fine while warming up and didn't splutter at all before it just cut out. Any thoughts?
Fob or not, it sounds like a security problem.....turn signal blinks.
Like Schmidty said reboot and have a go at it. Also make absolutely sure the battery is fully charged. You said new battery, but never said you checked the charge.
Thank you all for your thoughts and support. I had the bike shipped off to the dealer today as I was completely stumped. Just to tick through your advice:
• Battery connections all tight and secure
• Changed all the fuses for brand new mini blade fuses (couldn't see a 40amp fuse). All 15amps. Is the "Maxi Amp" in the fuse box with the others?
• It is an EFI model
• Battery was fully charged
• Put new battery in FOB
There is spark and the engine will fire momentarily with aerostart, so kind of sounds like an EFI issue at the computer. Maybe just needs remapping. I thought the race chip may have something to do with it.
I guess I will wait for the dealer to get back to me. Thanks again guys very much appreciate your time to help out.
The 40 amp maxi fuse is in its own housing. Should be attached to the face of the main fuse box.
This is mine. It had been tucked in behind the fuse box, and was stuck between the swingarm and the drive belt. I had to replace the whole arrangement.
is this on your new bike? :bigbarf that's nasty ....Did you smell rubber burning??
