I have a 1991 r-title sportster with a low rider front end, it has a cable driven speedometer on it with a tach inside. The tach is marked ign, grd, and trig, I'm not sure what trig is where that wire would go to. Any help would be appreciated.
Ground goes to frame or battery ground. (Usually black)
Ignition goes to 12 volt positive wire that has power when ignition is turned on. (Usually red)
Trigger goes to negative side of coil terminal. (Usually green)
Sometimes a white wire is there too, not used on the XLH
Also be aware if you are using an ignition module that can do single fire, and have it set in single fire mode, it will read twice the RPM as the motor is doing. You can buy a module to correct the Tach.
