Anyone run these and if so what is opinions in rain/wet weather and also mileage, I have 6K on mine and shows to no wear. I notice the tires seem slippery on wet road conditions. Tires handle great on dry road conditions. 38psi front and 40 psi rear-Sportster 1200
I run Dunnies on my Ultra because that's what came on it, but I ran Metz 880s on my previous bike (a Honda VTX 1300) for a lot of miles. They seemed a good compromise on cost, wet handling, dry handling and tire life. They were not as sticky as the Avons but seemed better than the Dunlops on dry pavement. When the time comes to buy new rubber for the Harley I'll have to think about Metz again.
I never had good luck with them traction was ok mileage was not and I check psi regular but that's just my experience lot of folks like them I wont use the again
I ran them on my 99 Road King....Decent tire for ride and rain but did not get mileage I thought I should.
Running Michelin CommanderII on the Ultra and love them.
Probably get close to 20,000 miles on a set.
I'm about to put my 3rd set of the 880's on. This set has right at 11,000 miles on it. Other than the original Dunlops, they are the only tires I've used. They are a huge difference for me. Much better wet performance, they don't follow the cracks and tar snakes like the OEM's did. I've been told by several shops, including Metzler, to run slightly higher pressures and have had no issues doing that.
The only reason I'm replacing the tires now is that the front one has a thumbnail size chunk taken out of the sidewall from a pot hole, and the rear is flattened in the center from too much hiway riding. When I lean it over I can feel it when the lean is over that shoulder. Feels almost like a flat tire.
Just remembered, the front will be an 888. Metzler is not making the 880's any longer so any of them still around will more than likely have a long shelf history. When I asked that question my Indy called the warehouse and asked someone to check the manufacture date. They came back and said that the tires were 4 years old. So I went with the new 888 for the front.
