i adjusted the apes:nod a few inches forward to get the wanted riding position. I think I missed the mark as i still have a little more fine tuning needed to get my arms just right.
then rode 16 miles to work, a bit cool but the air was very clean and fresh.
yea....my ol'lady is out in Midland visting family..I told her she better bring her ass home before it gets to bad up that way.......plus I'am freaking hungry...come home and make me a damn samich...:laugh
Good news is that the ice has pretty much melted around here on the roadways and I'm sure it's like that all the way to Midland. Maybe you'll get that sammich pretty quick. BTW, I was not too far from your neck of the woods last weekend. Went through Athens down to Palestine for the weekend.
Nice riding down that way.....love to take that road between there off to the left..great ride...848 think it is...next time your in the area give me a shout...:thumb

Sure will. We do plan on vacationing in that area a good bit in the future. The awesome riding roads was one of the hooks that made me like it over there. I could get lost for hours there and not even realize it.
My brother and I started to work on our bikes winter mods. He has a Twin Cam Ultra and I have a RG Custom. First, we had to build a garage length shelf to store parts we take off. Mostly all engine work on both. I think we both caught the horsepower bug.
another sad day of leaving the ole girl in the garage where its nice and warm, and with the chance of sleet tomorrow, i'm sure i wont get any miles in...
Nothing.....again.
Kerosene heater is serviced and really cranks out some heat. Still waiting on a quote for my bodywork and paint.
A few more odds and ends parts to get but not until I know the cost of the paint.
Friday I was out riding my 06 RK everything was fine. I stopped at a friend's house for a few min.. I noticed it started a little slow when I left for home. About a mile or so the engine and batt. light came on. I wiggled the switch to see if that helped, but it didn't, just cleared my tripometer. Anyway made it home and parked it until today. It started real slow but fired up. Batt. light went off, eng. light stayed on briefly then went out. I checked my terminals, grn. a little loose but not too bad. Put my charger on it and it had a 45% charge on it. I'm gonna put a full charge on it and see what happens. I'm hoping the switch might not have been just right. Or maybe it was a batt. conn., maybe a brain fart, I don't know. Just have to wait and see. :think .... OK, batt. fully charged at 12.56v. While running it's at 12.35v. So now I've got to figure out exactly why it's not charging. Hate it, but at least I made it home. That's the big thing for me. At least now, I can deal with it from here, instead of on the side of the road. Any suggestions or advice is welcome and appreciated. In the mean time, I'll be reading my manual. .... Just read Dave63's charging system diagnostics. Looks like a trip to the shop is in my immediate future. Makes me want to say"DAMN"!
I finished my cam install that I started Friday evening. Put Andrews 48H cams, Competition Cams 850-1 lifters and S&S Quickee install push rods with tubes. Also new cam bearings, and measured everything. Everything went smooth, all measurements are well in spec. Initial startup worried me a little as the lifters were noisy (presoaked overnight), but quieted down after a bit. Initial road test felt as good as 50° with tennies, and long sleeve shirt can feel. It pulls better at lower rpms in all gears. It sounds better at idle. I'll get to adding fuel to the mix when it warms up a little.
I cleaned up the work area, showered, and gonna sip some brown liquor to celebrate.
Note: To you guys that are having real $hitz weather today, I don't mean to whine about my sunny 50° day. Well maybe I do a little. :moonBart
Aired up the flat rear tire and put her on the jack. Can't find a leak anywhere. Brought the jack down and will check on her in the AM to see if she's gone flat again.
Yesterday took the bike into town to pick up a prescription refill, according to the bank clock/temp sign four miles down the road, it was 33 when I went past and 28 when I came back. Total trip about 30 miles but I was bundled up and it was actually quite nice. Today I adjusted the clutch cable and the throttle cables as there was a little too much play in both. Now just waiting for some sunny weather which might not be until Sunday....
Saturday, cold and rainy. No riding, but put my new antennae bracket on and detailed her up.
Sunday, got a chance to go out to eat with daughter. Good reason to test my new gloves. Started raining. Wanna make it rain. Detail your bike. lol
My daughter says the dash on the batwing looks like a face???
Drops while we were waiting out the rain for a bit.
it's been 5 days now since i've ridden the Harley, please make the bad weather go away, i promise i will be good...
