I was running my old girl at high speed on a hot evening when she acted up. You read exactly what happened and now she won't start...AND, I'm really worried after I smelled like melting wires. I get lights and power, but I do not get any starter noises and the engine does not turn over. I'm afraid I fried something, but I do not know where to start.
Check the battery connections. Test static battery volts, should be no less than 12.8v with the ignition off. If the battery is low check the stator for shorts and opens, a fried stator will stink like burnt wiring.
Well, I found at least one problem! My negative ground wire was chewed up on the back side of it up next to the battery housing. I couldn't see it until I pulled it almost all the way out of the seat frame. I'm hoping that is going to be the issue, AND, I pray that I didn't short anythng else out at the sametime! I'll keep yall updated.
