Yes the indicator lights did stop going on and off after a couple days. Biggest problem I "thought" I had was could not get the colors to show up in daylight hours, but find that they are not supposed to show during daylight hours. I like the unit and been thinking about going the separate tach instrument which you can buy, have two gauges/tach/speedo,
but cost is something on the order of 400.00 for that and this combo cost me some 300.00.
You can program unit to have speed, fuel, etc. in bottom half of gauge one color, rpm numbers another and the needle itself another color or have them all the same. Color selections pretty much unlimited. It appears to be of quality build and tach needle and other data is easily read during daylight hours and shows up kind of a silvery appearance with dark/black face. It's a "plug and play" installation, but HD shop charged me believe 30.00 to install and went with that rather than fool with it myself.

I read your post on installed the new Harley Speedo/Tach combo and was wondering if you are still using it and if you are having any problem. I am thinking about buying one and have heard of some having trouble with it.
You mentioned seeing the lights on the gauge go on and off. Did this stop occurring after the calibration miles?
