A couple months a go i bought a 1986 sportster with 19,000 mi on it currently has about 22,000 mi on it, i am looking for opinions on weather or not i should do the conversion to a 1200, if i do the conversion is there any problems it can cause and if i do what is a good kit to buy any and all opinions welcome and appreciated thanks!
Not to start a war, but was this really necessary? Coming from someone that rides one of the ugliest bikes produced by the MOCO? But that is just my opinion.
As to the OP's original question, unless you need the funds, keep the sporty if you do upgrade. Nothing wrong with having two bikes.
OP,,
an 86, a solid mount,
still gonna have 883 gearing,
Gonna be buzzy at big speeds.
IMO I'd keep It stock for round town play,
an get a big bike for the Big roads..
Them base model dyna's er only 3 or 4 Inches longer wheel base
nuther 60-70 Lbs. Even a Fat bob 100 Lbs more, means nuthin once
ya get used to It.
Plenty fast and a extra gear.
There are some 100 cubic inch kits out there for sporty's thou. Dare to be differant.
