I left Raleigh, NC on May 4 and meandered to Houston for a week-long visit. I left Houston on May 15 and headed west.
May 27: I'm in Carson City, NV.
Here are some links to some photos that I've taken along the way. I will update this first post as new photos are available.
Update May 27: Added May 27 - Yosemite.
The forum is not letting me edit my first post anymore, so here are some photos from May 28. I rode from Carson City, NV to Milford, UT across Nevada on U.S. 50. I'm currently in Milford, UT.
Shortly after I started climbing the mountain on the Angeles Crest Highway, I caught a glimpse of what looked to me like a black squirrel. I have only seen black squirrels in one place, a county park in Jefferson County, CO. That park was just outside of Evergreen, if I remember correctly.
I love squirrel hunting. I always said if I killed a black squirrel I would take it to the taxidermist and get it stuffed. Then one day I killed three. Called the taxidermist and discussed pricing. Then I ate them. Instead of fava beans and chianti I substituted gravy and lone star beer. Killed them right outside of Athens tx.
Thanks for the pictures and for sharing. Good stuff.
Yosemite is so far my favorite National Park, just beautiful.
Hwy 1 and the redwoods is a breathtaking experience.
Yesterday, on Memorial Day, I went to Zion National Park, but it was so crowded that I just rode through and went back today. Much better! Here is a link to some photos.
My Road King is at Timpanogos Harley Davidson (Lindon, UT) for its 35k service. I'll pick it up in the morning. I'm not sure how long it will take me to get to Bryce Canyon. I see a "scenic route" that I can take to get there. It might take a while.
Here is a link to my photos from June 1, 2016. I left Lindon, UT after picking up my Road King from Timpanogos Harley Davidson. They did a great job of getting it in and serviced and washed - great service!
I went to Carson City from Monterrey, CA. I then rode U.S. 50 across Nevada until I turned south toward Milford, UT. Much of the road to Milford didn't even have fences anywhere in sight.
Sarah, when I left Panguitch at 7:15am, I saw a woven wire fence along a field that was being irrigated. The fence was covered with ice and icicles. I went south on 143 and after about 20 miles, I encountered a big sign that said something like
"WARNING This road could become impassable at any given time due to high winds and drifting snow. Travel at your own risk".
Great. The road to Cedar Breaks was closed. There was a good bit of snow up there and a heck of a lot of mule deer.
Here is a link to the photos that I took today, June 2. I rode UT-12 to Bryce Canyon National Park and then to Torrey, Utah. It has been a beautiful day. In Utah, the wow just keeps on coming!
