883N - Rubber fork boots

Given that the fork boots on the 883 Iron front fork are mostly for the old-school look, is there any problem removing them? I'm sure they offer a bit more protection from dust, but since most HD's don't have them, that shouldn't be a problem. Has anyone taken them off, just to clean up the front end? P.S. OK, so it sounds like I'd need the dust cap for the lower slider. Any HD parts guys out there who know what part number I would need? Thanks!

The Nightster does not have the traditional dust cap on the lower slider.

You will need to find one that fits before you take off the boots.

The Nightster's lower fork slider is different than the Custom and '48, so I don't know if those will work or not.
