One legged rider brake modification
Here's a modification, hopefully, none of you will ever need, but some asked that I send it along once it was done. I had the brake moved from the right foot to the left heel, as I missing my right leg. I haven't had a back brake since 1978 when I lost the leg in a bike accident, but I was looking at my new 2010 RKC and it occurred it should be a pretty easy modification to make. The shop did a nice job, but charged too much ($700).
Also, the pedal has to be depressed two inches below the running board to fully engage, so you can't get to the ABS that way. So, I will have to rotate the pedal counter-clockwise into an unnatural looking position to get the full use of it.
I won't be able to try any of this out until it warms up a bit here in MN (7 degrees this morning), so it will be a while before I can say just how it works. If anyone is considering this for their own reason, please feel free to ask anything you like.
While kind of on the subject, if anyone knows of someone with a limb loss that wants to talk to someone about it, I'm glad to hear from them.
Good one leg jokes are welcome anytime too, but I have probably heard it or came up with it already.
