I have a 2017 EG Limited 107 and when I first start it, it takes several seconds for the oil light to go out. I only have about 1900 miles on her. I am wondering if it is the sending unit as it does not sound like it is not getting oil. Does anyone else have a 2017 have this issue? I never had this with my other Harley's
That thing would be back to the dealer faster then you could Huh ..... I have them start a couple more of them while your Standing there and show you what they should do it don't sound right to me
My '04 RK has 86K and the oil light goes out in less than half a second even when it's hot.
That wasn't always the case. When I got it had 44K and tensioner shoe debris caught in the oil pump relief valve caused the light to stay on at low RPM.
The closest dealer is 60 miles away, but I will get over there next Saturday and start some other 2017's and see if they do this. I really suspect this is the sending unit and not an oil issue.
My 09 engine oil light always goes out as soon as engine fires, 40K+ miles. Even setting for a week. Several seconds sounds scary. Back to dealer as already suggested.
Found on another forum. Wrong oil pumps installed. Oil cooled and water cooled use 2 different oil pumps. HD is replacing pumps, cams and cover by warranty. Metal shavings found to damage cylinders. Oil cooled engines passages are drilled, possible source of metal. So it begins? Sloppy quality control. WTFO?
Blue Thunder....never hurts to get a "second opinion"....The next time you're riding near another dealer (different than the one you already went to) stop in and ask them the same question. You could also call HD Tech Support for a "3rd opinion".....thats what I would do.
