Thinking about changing the tail light lens / turn signals to the smoke ones. Does anyone have any experience with these parts. Any feed back on these parts ?????. I seen them at the stealerships and I've seen the aftermarket ones just wondering about these parts before I commit to buying. Please help!!!!!!!
I had them. They have yellow bulbs that come with the turn signal lenses. They're OK on some bikes (Paint color makes a difference, I think...) but I ended up giving them to a friend. It's one of those "preference" parts.
I didn't prefer them. That's me...
They reduce lumination of the lights very little IMHO, but give the bike a different look.
When I got my 08 Ultra, I put on the smoke turn signal lenses along with the LED brake light. With the pacific blue color, IMHO, it set the bike off nicely. Before riding season starts, I will replace the front fender lens with a smoked one as well. I like the look better than the yellow lenses. All are very easy installs.
I put the lenses and colored bulbs on my black pearl Street Glide, and I thought it really complimented the color of the bike. I've since gone with smoked LEDs on the tail light and turn signals.
I am doing this also with my heritage softail color will compliment the smoked lenses, Sinister blue pearl and silver with smoked lenses and led's easy change in about 30minutes. AFTERMARKET IS 2x cheaper than HD
Think there great on vivd black or Black pearl Course it only makes sense if you get all the lights done And if I can ever find the smoked
none lighted reflectors, then there would only be smoke, black and chrome. No orange or red
I had them put on when I bought my S/E ultra and with the deep copper/black on my bike they look awesome. It looks as if your bike is black and that would look sharp as well
I have the entire smoked kit on my 06 Heritage and it looks great, HOWEVER.... everyone who has ridden behind me on a bright sunny day says the same thing. "Dude, your brake lights are very hard to see" So we lined up several bikes with mine one day and had several guys apply the brakes on them at the same time and sure enough, my was harder to see in the daylight. So... beware the brake light is darker.
Yeah, I had the tail lens and the signals. I ditched the tail lens. Even with the brightest (red) lights I could find, people complained they couldn't see my brake lights in the daylight. I went back to the stock tailight, but I do like the signals.
I don't need to get it up the butt for a little "style".
My buddy has a aftermarket set on his RG and I have to tell you , I have a hard time seeing them when it is a sunny day. They look cool but I am not too sure how safe they are. (His are aftermarket not OEM). That may be the issue.
I went to the smoke tail light cover and have the plate on top, however, you must use a red bulb to get the brake effect and is not DOT approved, so be careful, their always looking for a reason to pull ya over, like to find a bulb that has white for running and red for braking, cant find that bulb, any help?
I have a BAL with the smoked lens and no trouble seeing it, day or night. Also have the CD LEDs Ringz front and Yellow back. also easy to see. I bought the Drag Specialities smoked side markers for the Tour pack and plan to add the Smoked LED tour pack lights in the future. 13 RGU midnight pearl
Lenses are from Motor City Cycles.
CD leds are from Lite Cycle
