gtrman... I traded a VRSCDX for a new Uly back in June. No regrets. I didn't have any key issues with the V-Rod. Been riding a VRSCA or VRSCDX for the past six years. Was just ready for a change. The Uly appealed to me because I was interested in a more versatile bike... go far or short, outstanding in the curves (perhaps the best handling bike I've ever owned), able to go down stray dirt roads, better for passengers, etc. and etc. And I get a kick out of that aircooled Thunderstorm engine. Comes with heated grips, accessory socket, and is a roomy comfortable thing. The stock exhaust note is sweet and one wonders how it got past the EPA. If some of the above strikes a chord, then I wouldn't think you would need to be committed to an asylum.
A downside? The engine can get warm and the fan comes on frequently. One wonders why Buell couldn't at least have placed a quieter fan. But the new comfort kit is supposed to cure some of this. I have no woes with the engine heat. Where I live and ride, year round, engine heat is a bonus!
Despite Buell's fortunes, dealers are going to continue to support the bike with parts and service for years and years. There are some stunningly low Uly prices out there now. Too bad I bought back in June. Nevertheless, won't be seeing many on the road, and I kinda like that.
