Brake Reservoir

Want to put new controls on the '84 FL. It has the single banana brake on the front and a 5/8 bore reservoir. I know a 3/4 reservoir is used with dual brakes, but can I use it on my bike with the single brake? Asked the harley shop and my aftermarket man and the answers are "it should work". I don't see a problem with putting a higher capacity on it, but would like more positive feedback to make sure before spending the money. The reason I'm asking is I can get the 3/4 cheaper than the 5/8. Thanks.

Yes it will work. It might grab a little quicker because the 3/4" bore is moving more fluid per the same lever travel. The bore difference isn't that crazy different, and the pull leverage on HD's masters don't change, so that ratio isn't even an issue.

Larger bore: Yes. I wouldn't recommend going smaller, especially on the front.

Thanks Dave. Exactly what I wanted to know. I ordered them today. Old bike and brakes, I need an update to ensure I don't hit anything.
