What is the best guide to purchase?

So, I am going to start the PK Project engine rebuild and was wondering what the best manual/s would be. The engine is a '73 Shovelhead. I want something straightforward and informatiive with accurate information. Let me know your opinions. Thanks.

Accurate information ... Ok the HD manuals are usually the most accurate but in your case that OEM manual would be accurate for 1973 with no bulletin updates , and there were many . In your case a Chilton may be more current and also the S&S manual may be the most accurate with engine updateing info .

What about the Clymer manual that covers all 66-84 shovelheads? It seems to be pretty popular. Are you familiar with that manual?

You're right , it's Clymer not Chilton . I don't think Chilton even does cycle manuals ! Remember that there's a lot of updated info that came available after these manuals were published so I would check the revision dates before blowing the bucks . Either way you'll need a manual and the HD one would be the most accurate for that time frame .
