I wouldn't change much on it. Maybe put a 21" skinny on the front, and a different headlight.
I like the tank thats already on it.

Yup. A coffin tank would be a cool period piece. I personally am ga-ga over Sportster tanks on old skool chops.
Very nice.

I hope your a patient man Badass, Cause I gotta build one first.
Thats a mighty fine ride. Although a great front wheel, I think a laced wheel is the way to go.

basketcase
hello from ga. im getting ready to rebuild a engine and don't know which way i want to go. My shovelhead cases are shot beyond repair along with the rods, but the rest of the motor and bike are good. money is very tight right now as with everybody but i need to get riding again. do evo motor bolt in place of shovels without mods or is that just a pain in the butt? does any body have any ideas or some good cheap cases? Open for suggestions. Oh ya its a 1982 fxr shovelhead. And also great looking 53 pan you should be proud.

Dave 63 steered you in the right direction.I think your best bet is 1 1/2" open primary 4 speed with the evo motor and you wont have to run any primary just line up your motor and tranny and start riding. Thanks for the complement and welcome.
