S&S Panhead kickstart problem

Hi
I have just built a bobber, it has:
S&S p-series panhead, with S&S superstock ignition 93 cu in
8.2:1 compression ratio.
Primary belt 1.5 inch
Kick only
Harley 4 speed transmission
S&S super E carb

I cant start it.

I have checked the carb settings
The timing is good
A few times I have managed to start it, but after about 200 kicks.
Then I rode it 16 miles & the oil temp was 250 degrees (with 20-50 syn oil)
it runs good though

My questions:
Is this engine too big for kickstarting?
Should I send it back to S&S?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanx in advance

Nope send it to me..lol that engine will kick fine you got to know your sequence of starting every kicker I had always had a different way of firing. My Rev Tech is a hard kicker Igot the hot sequence down now I got to get the cold one goin .I have a Tech cycle 1 1/2" belt primary with The Indian Larry electric start conversion so I cheated a little once I get the sequence down its comin off.My old Pan 53FL kicked right up 2 primes and 1 fire .Id run 50w or 60w in that motor Dino oil but thats me I run 60w dino in my Rev tech Pandimonium Engine probley have 175 miles on it now.

Check in the newbie section and give a intro and some pics you might reckonize me from the other board and WELCOME !!

Would it fire if you shot some ether in the carb?

I'd agree if it was used all the time. But as a troubleshooting tool...

200 kicks is more than I could do on my best day. If it takes more than a half dozen then look for another problem.

My bet is you're lean on the bottom end.

Your temp is too high.

Do a plug chop if you can get it running.

What are your carb settings ? Jets and such.

you really just gotta find that right sequence I am not sure if its the same on s&s but oul pan shov, if you dont do the combo right it wont start period.. I would mess with the plugs and see if its to rich or you could be flooding it, and make sure the gas is off after you kick it I have made that mistake a time or to, if it runs and runs well it must have somthing to do with carb or timming

Retard the timing ,make it easier to kick turn ur idel screw up 1/2 to 3/4 turns higher.3prime kicks with enrichener on the top of the compression stroke key on river dance on that bitch!!If she spits ur gettin closer kick her ass again she will go.

you should have a .30 plug gap.you live in orlando put 50w oil in it dino no synthetic i hate it,start with a .072 main in that S$S 1 1/2 turns out on the airmixture from lightly seated (do not crank down on that screw)only lightly seated.Itll go.
