just got std heads for 80" shovel. issues now

here are the specs of the bike. 80", .020 bore, 9.5:1 comp., and a couple of std heads that won't fit.

the lip on the cylinder measures 3 5/8" and the inside lip on the head measures almost 3 7/8." any of you run into this problem yourselves and is there a solution that involves keeping the std heads and not spending another grand in machine work and cylinders? are these heads just too big for my bore?

I'm running STD heads on my pan with shovel jugs but didn't have any problems like you just described. Got any pics?

The head got to be bigger to fit over the lip.See if you head gaskets line up and go from there.3 5/8s is usually a 88"and up motor.

i checked the specs and i talked to a few people. the conclusion that i have come up with is that these have been machined out for a big bore project. i got them second hand, but they were never used. i am not 100 % sure what the deal is with them.

Good One ...HAHA^^^

Go to the STD web site look for a tech # there should be a part # on the heads and ask em the bore size and then you will know for sure.
