My Old Shovelhead

I bought this bike in 1987 with the motor and trans from my wrecked 883 and $750.00 cash as a down payment. A friend financed it for me. It looked a lot different then this when I bought her and I kick myself in the A$$ for selling it in 1999.

12" over Wideglide and 17" Apehangers on 4" risers, this bike was a blast to ride. Stretched H-D 1977 FLH frame. A TRUE chopper. So many cool stories behind this sled. I bought this bike from the same guy I bought my Panhead from and ended up meeting the guy he got it from. Sold it to a Waste Water Treatment Operator at the Chemical plant I worked at and he died of cancer about four yrs. ago.

I had a 76 FLH Bagger fully decked even had the light bar for around the saddle bags,Root Beer brown with the yellow to burnt orange pinstriping around the H.D. screw on emblems on the fuel tank, big old Pogo stick single saddle,Just a real nice ride.
I sold it and have every once in a while kick Myself for ever doing that.

Looks Good FL! That seat was good for about 250 miles in one day. I rode the Shovel to the Harley Rendevous 3X. 279 miles from my house and by the time I got there my A$$ was telling me I had done a little ridin lol.

Very nice! That was the Old School Hop up. My Pan had the Shovel top when I got her. People new to this don't realise how good they got it now compared to back in the day.

I was looking at Baker drivetrain website because a friend of mine jus bought a Baker 6 speed in a 4 speed case for his Pan. Just got me thinking. Back in the day when you wanted to hop uo your tranny you had to rebuild it with Andrews gears like I got in my Pan. Nowadays theres all kinds of companys selling trannys of all kinds of confiqurations. Thank god STD and now S&S came out with aftermarket Panheads. A friend of mine liked the performance of my Panhead so much(After I spanked his A$$) that he just put STD Shovel Heads on his early 1967 Shovel.
