Help, What Model Harley IS This??
Hi guys, I could use some help on this and didn't know where to turn.
I have a 1973 Aermacchi Harley Davidson. Made in Italy, it's one of the few Harleys not made in America. My cousin bought it used at a goodwill when he was 13. He never had a title, and now he has passed away, and I have the bike. I'd like to get a title via broadway title or someone like that, but first I need help identifying the MODEL so that I can make sure I have the correct info on my new title.
I THINK it's a TX 125 or an SX 125.
Some people say the TX is 1973 and the SX is 1974 & up. Others say the TX is European and the SX is North American.
I'd really like to get this right. Does anyone know who I can talk too?? Names, phone numbers?
Thanks

My VIN starts with 7A and ends with H3. I have seen that page. It says that 1973 VINs that start with 7A are SX 125 bikes. There are other webpages that say SX 125 bikes didn't start until 1974.
Does anyone know what the VIN would start with on a TX 125 bike? The TX 125 bikes are mentioned on that web page, but no VIN prefix is listed.
Thanks

Yes, I did try to contact Harley directly. I got ahold of the archive department at the museum. They are not interested in providing any information that would help restore an old bike. The only things they can do are put me on a mailing list for a current catalog, or possibly display my bike in the museum if I offer it to them for free.
Sounds like they're sort of useless. Makes me wonder what they do all day.

Alright, Thanks guys! I've talked with a few people and have it figured out now.
TX 125 bikes WERE available in North America.
A VIN starting with 7A is a Rapido (125) from 1968-1972, a TX 125 in 1973, and an SX 125 from 1974-1975.
I have a 1973 TX 125.
The confusion comes from factory literature. The Italian literature refers to bikes by their production year (year the bike was assembled). The American literature refers to bikes by their model year.
The SS 125 was from 1975-1977 and starts with 6F.
The SXT 125 was from 1975-1977 and starts with 3F.
Hopefully this info will help others also.
Thanks for all the help!

It's just a toy really. Someone just offered me $1,300.00 for it, so I'll probably sell it.
I also have a...
65 Panhead
78 Shovelhead
79 Shovel head multiple national Harley Race winner
06 Springer
... all in beautiful condition.
