Stiff clutch and crawling

Hey everyone, i am haveing a problem with the wifes 81 shovel U-built, thing is clutch adjusted properly when you put into gear the bike wants to take off and the other thing is the clutch is really hard tu pull in, any suggestions? thanks to everyone and ride safe my brothers and sisters.Peace from Alberta Canada

1.) Walking can be an incorrectly adjusted clutch, or, in a shovelhead, the clutch pressure plate retainer springs are adjustable, and your clutch pack needs to be set up BEFORE you adjust your clutch cable.

2.) In rare cases, deposits can build up on the clutch plates, and removing them, cleaning them and readjusting the clutch basket is necessary. It depends if you're running the stock primary shared with the engine oil, or if it's been sealed up and made into an isolated primary. Disregard if it's a factory belt drive primary, and see #1.

3.) The fact that the clutch is hard to pull in, could be the clutch basket setting, or that someone added aftermarket springs to the clutch basket, OR because the cable is bound somewhere, or is in dire need of lubrication.
