Brakes

I have Wilwood brakes on the back and GMA on the front. The back brakes are squeaking and not stopping the bike very well. The front brakes are working fine, but they are buzzing when applied - not squeaking, buzzing quite loudly.
Also, other than the names, I cannot locate any model numbers in order to determine which replacement pads to buy.
Ideas appreciated.

sounds like mine exactly until i changed them out last week.
i bought both sets from j&p, and they fit and work very well.
organic pads are the prefered material for stainless and polished rotors due to there low abrasion factor. they produce great stopping power without noise or rotor galling.

i would suggest looking in the online catalog for a replacement set for both ends. try to match brand names, and use a slightly harder pad for the rear, as they will wear at roughly the same time.

That sounds great, but how can I determine which pads I need?

Go to Wilwood's site, and to GMA's site for pads.

The buzzing is normal. (Front)

The rear brakes are either glazed, out of alignment or could be a really hard compouind, like Sintered pads, that make noise due to their....harness.

The link just takes me to the site. How did you figure out which pads go on my brakes? I've been calling Wilwood and GMA for 2 days and the tech lines are always busy.

did you use the search feature on the site?
the 80 has roughly 6 different models to choose from....look through the search criteria to narrow it down. it will show drawings as well.
sorry to cunfuse you on that, i'll look again also.

Okay, I took off the rear caliper and pads. I got the numbers off of the pads and bleeding the inside pistons was much easier. The more I deal with my local Harley dealer the more I realize how worthless they are. If your bike isn't less than 5-6 years old, they can't/won't help. The guy I spoke to never heard of Wilwood brakes.

no dealers, go to the wilwood site, and the gma site as dave suggests. dealer wont know chit. if you know the caliper series #'s you home free. otherwise keep trying on the tele.

Well, I finally talked to Wilwood. They weren't a lot of help. They said the pads I currently have are the best ones to prevent squealing. They said they would advise shimming, but they couldn't provide me with shims for my brakes. They advised me to try the goop that is applied to the back of the brake pad. My intuition told me not to do it, but, alas, I did. What crap! It did nothing. Once the brakes heat up, they make a very high-pitched squeal.
With the front one buzzing and the rear one squealing, it's not a lot of fun to ride the bike.
Anyone have any ideas?
