I never quite understood that.....50th bikes on the 51st year, but then the 90th and 100th bikes on the 90th and 100th years respectively....what's up with that?

There was a glitch in the production, and it never made it out in 1953 which was the original anniverary. Instead, it was released in September of 1954. They were sold new, for $1015 each.
