Your dreaming - no way Jose. Although the V-Max has (one of) the largest motors 1679cc, 197hp, 123 lb-ft torque, it is speed goverened to (if I remember correctly) some ridiculous figure like 140 mph or so (I can hit that in third gear on my Duc 1098). Basically the list is very long of the number of bikes that will out run the V-MAX (top end wise). Now, it does get there pretty quick with 123 ft-lb or torque on hand -

I remember way back when reading Cycle World's review of the original V-Max: "We knew Yamaha was delivering something special when our test V-Max unloaded with a spare rear tire!"

Yeah, unfortunately, (or maybe it IS fortunate) I don't think they even give old farts an insurance break on those things.

my next bike will be a stretched busa or 1000 suzuki. i like the vmax but i can get a 8second 1/4 mile bike for 8 grand. not a hard decision to make for me right there.
thats a pretty good price for that 04 busa too.

Honestly I can care less, Jap bike . According to the article in Motorcyclist,.. Beats out the last model which was fastest in it's era before relaunch last year. $19k gets you the fastest production streetbike...Just repeating what I read...Like I said can care less, Everyone knows guys who ride these bikes anyways ride like A-holes

Yeah... Bike (UK) published a table of the fastest bikes they ever tested. The new V-Max was nowhere near the top. A Ducati 1098R and MV Agusta F4 were tied at the top.
Nothing wrong with bikes from Asia. I'd rather take one them to the track, or down long dirt roads, than the H-D. Different markets and products, that's all, and for millions of owners they deliver major grins. See no problem with that.
