Nobody said anyones looking down on anybody. People who look down on other bikes and feel that Harley makes the only bike are well educated in the quality of fine motorcycle craftsmanship.
As far as I'm concerned while I may consider a GW as a 4th or 5th bike the reality is I wouldn't do it because the ride is not what I look for in a motorcycle. If I wanted an air ride I'd tried to find a magic carpet.
The Ultra has it all over the GW in spades. More bike for the buck with an Ultra. GW is 37 MPG Ultra is 50MPG for starters. And it goes down hill from there with a GW.

Seriously.....When I rode metrics I was always quick to let my Harley riding co-workers know how fast/quick/ technologicly superior, blah, blah, blah....Now, I just love to ride slow and low and I really don't give a rats azz about that stuff. I really appreciate the solidness, the metal parts as opposed to plastic, the history, the look and all the intangibles that go with owning a Harley Davidson. That said, I can still appreciate what other brands of motorcycles do well.

back in the day i bought a new '86 V-Max, set it up for sport touring with a small shield, backrest/rack for the ex, forward pegs, put alot of miles on that bike.
did alot of riding back in michigan, & it seems like every single time i was on it, i could not stay outta the throttle, the pull was soooo addictive on that bike, it was a V-4 with 4 carbs which rode normally like any other bike under 6000rpm, but over 6k, when those butterfly valves opened up between those carbs & each cylinder was getting fuel from all 4 carbs at once,,,,,, oh ya,,, that pull ( & subsequent speed ) was very addictive
i knew i had to sell that bike if i wanted to see the other side of 30, it wasn't the bike that scared me, it was the damn dogs & deer. had more than a few very close encounters with both at well over 120mph +
have since been on a few busa's ( very fun ride, pulls hard also, but nothing like the sensation of the early V-Max ) have also been on the new V-Max,,,, looks nice,, but they've totally neutered that great machine imo

As it states under my name and if anyone has been reading my posts I don't even have a Harley. I ride a Honda shadow 1100. I love the bike but have been feeling the pull of a Harley. Looking at a 79 shovel. Will see how it goes though since I'll need to do some fancy footwork to get it.
Anyways riding is riding. I don't have one but I can still appreciate a good Hog and Honda.

...No shame in my game..The bike I saw was a tricked out "OutLaw V-max" so it was custom...
But here is info on the V-max: NOW LETS NEVER SPEAK OF THIS THESE JAP WORDS AGAIN

VMAX Motorcycle - all new for 2009
The VMAX motorcycle has always been the muscle bike to end all other muscle bikes. Commanding respect, triggering fear! Now, the all-new 2009 VMAX! Redesigned, reloaded, and with substantial aggressive tendencies. Yamaha has not only improved a legend, but also started a whole new one. This motorcycle produces an estimated 197 horsepower at 9000 rpm. Photos provided by Yamaha.
The 2009 VMAX is finally here. The new 2009 VMAX delivers unmatched performance from its all-new 65-degree, four-valves-per-cylinder, 1679cc V4. Downdraft four-bore fuel injection with YCC-I intake technology and YCC-T fly-by-wire throttle provide awesome acceleration throughout the broad powerband. The chassis of lightweight aluminum puts the engine low and forward for mass centralization, resulting in a machine designed to handle curves as well as straightaways.
Don't know where rest of article went..ahhh who cares
