WTT my forward setup for mid setup 09 FXDF

After I first bought my 2009 Fat Bob I thought the controls would be to far forward until I picked up a set of foot rests which reside 3-4 inches back closer to the rider. It solved my problem. It wasn't that I couldn't reach the controls it was that I couldn't comfortably rests my feet on the pegs. Since then I wouldn't trade the forward controls for anything. The ones I picked up were Kuryakyn.

I am about a 31-32 inch inseam and 5'8".

never hear to much about guys running mids..Im shocked! Foreward controls or running boards are the way to go..I know my HD dealer won't even put in orders with the FB w/ mids....says everyone wants foreward controls....

Personally unless your really short stature I would go with the forwards. They are really comfortable once you get used to them. I am vertically challenged as well but I love them. I have a bad knee which gets cramped riding in cars if I can't straighten it out. The forward controls and pegs allow me to stretch out my legs.
