where do you get an engine from?
just curious to know where everyone gets thier engines from?
are they new? used? got it from a cheap old HD and rebuilt it.
Im thinking of building my first bike and would get a rolling chassis, but no idea where to get an engine from.
Btw im canadian, if that helps out a bit.
Thanks

You can get new engines from a variety of places including HD itself.

Try a salvage company in your area for a good deal or e-bay.

Google.com and search on "Harley Motorcycle Salvage". When I was hunting a couple months ago It came back with over 100,000 hits.

You can get them from HD, but they are expensive. Your best bet is a bike with a salvage title, at an auto auction or something. some HD dealerships will even auction salvage bikes. You just have to make sure the engine is ok. they are real tough engines, especially the evo engines.

2 others that I can think of are Ultima http://www.ultimaproducts.com/engines.html and RevTech from CustomChrome.

It all depends on your budget and what type motor you want,Rev tech Is great got one and S&S is great to got one of those to or you can buy a high milage used motor and rebiuld it yourself or have some one do it for you.If you get a salvage motor I would go threw it too...What ever you do make sure you get a title or a MSO with it or forget it!!
