Something feels funny...
I was out for a quick ride today and when the highway started from a normal road I was in 4th gear... just changed into it. Then all the cars in front of me cleared up so I gunned it. But it was just pissing and moaning about it and when it FINALLY got up in the RPMs it felt like it was struggling then ... hmmm ... a little power out of nowhere. Every time I get on this road here I'm embarrassed that my bike doesn't keep up with accelerating tiny European cars. I tried from third but too high in the RPMs, have to switch again. Tried from 5th, not enough RPMs. The bike just doesn't seem like it has the power my dyno a while back said it has. It's slow...
Where should I start looking into things? Regular maintenance is up to date. 8700 miles.

Sounds like you need a tune, crazy you said that, a guy dropped off his Dyna at the local Harley dealer yesterday saying the same thing, he says that when he jumps on it, it boggs down and then all of a sudden just starts winding up, I have not heard what they found, sounds like it needs a little tweaking. I would take it back to whoever set it up.

If it was a clutch adjustment, you would be hearing the rpm's go up and not go any faster, then as the rpm's come down you would feel it catch, I do not think it is the clutch adjustment.

I think if it was the clutch it would slip in every gear.
I bet it needs to be re tuned through the computer.....

I have had it Stage 1 SERT dyno tuned at Germany's most reputable customizer. That was about 4,000 miles ago and no additional modifications other than an oil change with the same SYN3 I always have in there. No Aimsoil out here. My transmission seems to engage just fine, the clutch is easy to use and so forth. Doesn't feel any different. Just when I gun the fekker it don't move. Just rumbles and accelerates like a pugo.
If it wasn't for me about to go on an Alps trip I'd drop this off at a dealership and tell them to fix whatever it is. I dunno...

It is so frustrating, I just sent mine back to the shop, with all the motor work if I ride on the highway at a steady throttle for a while, it will stop when you take an exit and come to a stop and every once in a while it will backfire, so pissed I do not have my bike for the weekend, it sucks. Good luck with yours.

There is a little evidence of oil in the AC but nothing is leaking. The breather bolts seem normal. If I could find some g'dam standard (not metric) tools I'd check the plugs and see what they look like. I have a feeling it's running very rich. The exhaust doesn't smell or look like oil but it smells like my uncle's 196X Dodge Charger's exhaust. Don't know if that's normal. I did immediately notice more fumes when I got the Stage 1 done.
I went around and tested in another scenario today. Going up a hill in 4th or higher seems to be a big, big weak spot on my bike. Just sucks balls all the way up the hill then when the hill ends vroom. Also the bike seems overly affected by weather. On certain types of days, it wakes right up. On other days, it feels 10 hp less at least.
Also, when I'm accelerating it will be increasing speed with RPMs (badly but...) then the engine will just rev up but no power seems to go to the wheel. So I switch gears then figuring I hit some sort of rev limiter or something. But the 88 kept accelerating and I felt like I hit my limit before him. It just goes rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr like normal than raaaaaa then I switch because it's just completely different.

You know I think that some of the problem is that these dealers that have these younger guys set these bikes up on the dyno just do not have the experience, sounds like me, just cannot figure out the problem, so I told the dealer to either fix it or keep it, give me what I paid for it and I will buy a 2010 Ultra Classic, then they informed me it will be done Tuesday and my problem will be corrected. Good luck, I feel your pain.

Could be. The guy that did it was maybe 28. I want a S&S big bore... skip this 96" malarky and get me some balls to the walls! Haha. I'll update, see what's up.
