What all is needed besides remap for slip ons?

I am planning on adding a set of Rush or R-Harts to my bike over the winter, but I want everything to run smoothly. What else is needed besides the pipes? I know that you can get by on the pipes alone, but I have seen a remap suggested, as well as a few other things. Thanks a ton for the feedback its much appreciated.

Also I read that you lose some MPG when you change out pipes, does can anyone give me a number on this?

Change the air cleaner, by the way, the Bub's are nice but was told they don't build alot of power, so if you are just looking for sound, go with the Rush, That is what I have on my bike and they sound sweet, at least I think.

All I really want is a lower tone or grumble. Nothing real loud, and I am not honestly trying to get alot more power. We just like to cruise around and honestly I am happy with the power that it has coming off of the floor. I kind of like the idea of being able to hear my wife (sometimes) without her having to scream at me or use hand gestures

I like my Rush pipes, they look good, sound good, and have a nice tone to them, you can hear me but I am not obnoxious.

In addition to pipes you need to give me your bike for free.

sirbOOm - could you post a pic of your bike please? I noticed that your sig mentioned black pipes and I have wondered how they look.

So all I really need is a remap done as well as a higher flow air filter?
