motorcycle exhaust wrap

has any one done this and how much wrap do you need

I used 3 rolls of the Screamin Eagle on my Thunderheader. Depends on how long your pipes are and how much you overlap it.

i took my stock heat shields off an wrapped my headers. took one 50' roll of 2" wrap. $45-50 depending on what auto parts store you get it from

I've been considering doing my stock pipes under the shields. I'm assuming it would help keep the heat down some although I rarely do stop & go riding.

if you wrap them why would you want to put the heat shields back on? i think that's defeating the purpose of the wrap. plus you may find it difficult to put the shields back on after wrapping them.

The purpose of the wrap is to reduce heat. Putting a shield on top of it will not defeat it's purpose. Some like the look of the wrap but the look is not the purpose. I'm ok with the look but I like the look of the shield better. I just want to reduce radiant heat and possibly improve exhaust flow as some claim but I'm not convinced about that part.
