I got 51k from my cam chain tensioners but should have done it at about 48k. If you are handy at all then the tensioners are no big deal at all. I now have 91k on my 02 wide glide and still running good

I don't think it is a good deal.... a new Street Bob cost £ 9850. The Superglide is almost 9 years old and seems not much to offer!

And I can tell you the Street Bob is a great bike and also low...

Been looking on auto trader. There aren't many Dynas about but the one you're looking at is there. They seem to go up by about £500 for every year newer. At the low mileage you're talking about it seems ok. They obviously hold their value. Wish my sporty did the same. New is nice, but its an extra 3 or 4 grand and if you don't have that lying around then used is the only option.

Buy the bike that feels right.

I don't know Graham - Sporties hold their prices too from what I can see! I need to make a decision soon - I'm hating not having a bike to play with. I don't just ride mine, I Enjoy fettling with them in the garage as well. I find fettlin' very theraputic!

I still can't decide between a Dyna and a Sporty - I've always had a soft spot for Sporties but I'm just not sure they're big enough for two up long tours. The Dyna has a bit more seat space.

Been to look at a couple today, this one was local in Newton-le-Willows, quite a dodgy looking bike place but the Dyna was surprisingly nice. It sounded glorious when he started it up
Auto Trader Dealer Pages - RMC Service Sation

And, there was a 2006 6 gear 1450 in Chester HD dealership which was up at £8495 - reckon I could get a wedge off that though, it's a bit tatty, nothing serious but it would make a nice winter project getting it back up to scratch. He also had a couple of Sporties in there I liked..........All I know is that I need something to fill this space in my garage.......Quick!

Dyna

I don't know much about Lancashire, England but is there any type of HD dealer near you that offers rentals? Before I bought my Wide Glide I had rented quite a few different models to see which one fit better. I never rented a Sporty since they really are uncomfortable after just sitting on one for a while. For me the WG was the best of the bunch for comfort.
I know EagleRider is an international HD rental but it looks like their only UK location is in Newcastle (great beer). There are other rental agencies out there also but don't know what's around you. HD's site lists one in Uppingham if thats even close.
If you don't get a chance to ride one before you need to make a decision, I'd go with the Dyna. You can't possibly think you'd have more fun or comfort on a Sporty but if you get the Sporty you'll keep thinking "I should have got the Dyna...."

Just my $.02

The choice between a Sporty and a Dyna is a no brainer. Dyna all the way. If you plan on doing any traveling, it's the Dyna hands down. The Sporty isn't built for distance riding and the Dyna will give you comfort the Sportster can't hold a candle to. You put a passenger on a Sporty, and both of you will be miserable.

The general thought from my local HD dealer is to check the wear on the cam chain tensioners around every 30,000 miles.
