I am putting vance and hines big radius pipes on my 09 dyna super glide. Will I have to get the bike MAP or will it work without getting it done.

Most forums require an intro

Should always MAP but should be able to away with just pipes.

If you upgrade air as well you most certainly want to MAP

My dealer is always saying to get the map if you're changing anything about the engine from intake to combustion to timing to exhaust. He also says a SERT or other aftermarket tuner will probably get even better performance than the map, though I wonder if he's just trying to sell me another part and a dyno run.

BTW, post some pics when you get it done! It's gonna look great!

Big Radius 2-1, nicest looking pipes i've seen in years, for the Fat bob anyways.

I was going to get the VH Big Radius pipes for my 08 FXDC, but I heard them on an identical bike and didn't care too much for the sound of them. A trustworthy friend suggested the VH Big Shots exhaust. I purchased them along with an arlen ness big sucker air kit and the SERT. I have impecable throttle response and noticed a serious increase in acceleration. Not to mention the badass rumble from the pipes. The good thing about the SERT is if you encounter a problem such as the bike bogging out in 2nd (for example) then you can use the tuner to go back and remap the fuel/air ratio to correct the problem. IMO whatever route you go with the pipes, I would get the race tuner and intake upgrade.

I am planning on putting them on my 2010 wide glide as well. Beautiful pipes. I am just not sure about running them without modifying or updating the fuel mapping. That is why I am on hold for now and the waiting is killing me. Lol! When it is all said and done it's at least an $800 upgrade so I am just waitin on the cash

I've put a SERT on my Fat Bob when I added a Thunderheader and Heavy Breather. I've heard the new bikes with O2 sensors will run without a remap, but as lean as they come from the factory I feel better about having the race tuner. I wouldn't want to take a chance of harming the engine.
