Removing rear wheel

I want to remove my back wheel to enable me to add a chrome sprocket cover. As I don't have a proper harley lift and don't want to use my dealer anyone have any idea as to the best and safest way to lift the rear wheel clear of the ground for removal. I was thinking of a plank and some blocks of wood!!!

A hydraulic car jack can work with the proper blocking under the frame, but 2 ratcheting straps off the garage roof rafter is more secure.........

Someone on the Forum posted plans on making a sort of jack out of 2X4s. With a long 2X4 handle you simply rotated over the base and it lifted the bike. It is cheap and effective.
