Flickering headlights on a Fat Bob?

I have a '09 FXDF w/6500 miles on the clock and my headlights have recently started to dim/flicker randomly.
Dash and marker lights don't change, and there is no connection to RPM, gear, road conditions, etc. A check for a loose connection or ground didn't turn anything up, so a trip for warranty work @ the local shrine ensued.
Their mechanic could find nothing and a call to H-D led them to believe it is the voltage regulator!?

Has anyone else had a similar problem with their Dyna?

no, but I was going to suggest voltage regulator, or a loose ground

Just a shot in the dark and I am probably suggesting something which has already been looked at, but just in case. Was the bulb(s) physically inspected. My headlight also started flickering and dimming randomly. Mine turned out the be a case where the bulb had broken in the base. A visual inspection did not show it. Only when I put my fingers on the bulb to remove did I find the problem. Turned out to be a good opportunity to upgrade to a brighter bulb.

Sorry if this has already been checked and I am just filling up space here.
