Primary noise??

Ok, serious question for you pros out there. I just noticed some noise coming from the primary area. At idle I hear a rather loud spinning/rattling noise that stops when I engage my clutch. When I release the clutch it starts making that same noise again. It's louder than normal I think because I didn't notice it before over the loud pipes. But now it is pretty noticable. You can even hear it when I'm riding and again it quiets down when I engage the clutch lever. But it shifts and rides fine.. Please help. Sounds as though there is no fluid in the primary, which I'm sure there is.
Any ideas?? Thanks!

Could be the compensator loose, or the nut that holds the clutch basket. Clutch basket nut can be checked via the derby cover removal only. The compensator nut can only be checked after the primary cover is removed.

Clutch nut is reverse thread. (Left to tighten, right to loosen)

Just found out that it is was my inner primary bearing. Good thing is is that it was a recall on all 06 Dynas. She's at the dealership now getting all redone, free of charge, with the correct parts so that it doesn't happen again. Awesome!
Plus they found another recall for the battery mount that will be corrected as well.
Thanks for the help, guys!

Good deal...... didn't know it was a 2006 Dyna. One year only inner primary bearing. Bad design compared to others. Glad to hear it all worked out.

Good Deal is right. Mine cost me $$$$. No recall for the 09 96 CI that I'm aware of.
