New or used FatBob?? Can't decide
I am considering getting a Fatbob but I'm totally lost between two options and I can't make up my mind...
Last week I went to a HD dealer in Beirut to test-drive the new 2012 103ci Harley Davidson Dyna FatBob. It was an amazing ride, I fell in love with it and they made me an offer of $21,500.
The bike is an entry level with no customizations at all. I was going to buy it right away until I saw another FatBob, used 2008 model with 96ci engine, dark grey color with full skull kit and the curved V&H exhaust, the bike ran only 9000 miles and is offered at $16,500. (see attached photos)
Which one do you think should I go for? Is the 103ci with no customization worth spending the extra cash?
I appreciate your guidance.
Nick

Personally I'd go for the 103. You'll appreciate the extra power. On top of that, you can customize your new bike to make it all yours.

I would think it depends on your bank account. For $21,500 and you could easily put another $5000 into seats, windshield, exhaust pegs, grips...
How much more power do you really need as compared to the $16,500 96 ci?

9k is just broken in. But it may need tires soon, figure that expense.
If you plan to keep for a little while, you may save the depreciation on the new one. The warranty is nice on the other hand.
103 vs 96? Mostly bragging rights for some folks.
The Big Twins were 74 when I started riding. Next year it will be 108 then 112....to keep us thinking we own underpowered bikes and get a new one.

I bought a new fat bob in june 2011. Paid a lot of money for extras! 9000 miles is nothing and
I think the exhaust is a bonus!

If money is not the issue - Warranty and 103 would be nice. Get them to throw in part of the scheduled maintenance and/or some merchandise.

$21,500 seams really high to me. I didn't pay anywhere near that for my Deluxe and they added some stuff to it. Try and negotiate both prices then go with the one you like best as others said 9k isn't much.

If I remember correctly my 2010 Fat Bob was only $14,999.00 new. It's a 96ci 6-speed. I'm very happy with the power having added Vance & Hines exhaust, SE intake, H-D Race Tuner, and DYNO adjustments by the dealer. You'll probably want to do that much at least to the new one. So add about $1,400.00 to that. As far as $16,500.00 for a 2008 with someone else's glitter, you really have to like that glitter because I think the seller is trying to make money off it. You should be able to find a more reasonably priced used one with low miles in my opinion.

I would go for the 08. With the money you would put in for the pipes, tune and any other extras, you would probably be better off. Especiall with a 6k price drop. Plus if you buy brand new you lose money the second you roll of the lot.
