Another Stupid Question From Me

I had V&H long shot slip on's added to my Super Glide when I bought it a month ago. They pop a hell of a lot, but I'm wondering if it's simply because of the rpm range when I engage the gear? If I keep the down shifting in the 2k range, then it's pretty smooth. If it's higher, then the popping is obnoxious.
I noticed when I put the box in storage that it said a Fuel Pak was required... But I'm not sure if that's nothing different than every upgrade I have put on cars in the past.

My riding problem, or is more actually needed? Just for mufflers?

Popping when you let off on the throttle is usually caused by a lean condition that's why they recommend the fuel pack or some sort of fuel enrichment. Bad exhaust gaskets could also cause some popping. It's a good idea to replace the exhaust gaskets when you put on exhaust pipes.

Thanks for the links. Good info, but it still seems like some people have the issue, and others not. Maybe in the Spring I'll just get a full setup, tuner, tune, stage 1 (2?), and be done with it. Not like my past Cobra where I always had something to add another 50/75/100 hp just several grand away.
Full exhaust, tune, and stage 1 seems enough. But of course first I need a battery to get the damn thing running
