Not to worry, it just gives the bike character, and makes it unique from all the others .... just think about all the other poor slobs who spend tons of money to make their rides unique.
I only had my ultra for about a week, and i set one of the sadlebags on the ground, it fell over and the top slung open and smacked the ground ...... Now I have scratches in the top of the lid ...... Oh well! It's all good, it's the beauty of riding that matters, not the beauty of the ride.

Bought my 2008 FXDL with 2900 miles from a shop in Jackson, TN. in Aug., 2011. I made a deal with them to bring down to Orlando. They only had a pickup so I told them to be sure it was protected (used bike but immaculate and perfect)and they wrapped it thoroughly with the clear plastic stretch wrap used for shipping. When arrived I was standing in the pickup bed cutting the plastic off with a hobby knife when as I was cutting the driver got my attention and I put a 1/2 inch slit in the seat. Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!! My limited 105th anniversary edition now has it's first imperfection and I have it for less than 10 minutes. I hadn't even sat on it yet. I did get it immediately repaired by an upholstery specialist. He used a resin that filled the slit, he smoothed it out and it's impossible to see any damage even after a year and a half. It remains pristine to this day. Whew!

Well since everyone is telling tales on themselves ...
The day I picked up my new 2012 FLTRX I put just over 300 miles on it. Got home, pulled it into the garage, put the kickstand down, turned the front tire to the left and rubbed the fender against the wife's 883XL back fender putting a crease in mine.
The old lady ran into the garage thinking I'd hurt myself from all loud cussing. Couple hours of rubbing it from the back with the round end of a ball pin hammer helped along by some liquid C02 and now it seems I'm the only one that can see it.
Still pisses me off though.

Well, it wasn't a Harley but, in 1985 I bought a brand new Honda Nighthawk S 700cc for $3200.00. I had to drive my pickup truck 45 miles to pick it up with my fiance so she could drive the truck home.I left the dealer and I had 10 miles on it. I was stopped at a stop sign waiting for the car on the left to clear the intersection. My fiance was behind me and her foot slipped off the clutch and the truck hit my rear tire. I (and I don't do this anymore) had the handlebars turned to the right, getting ready to turn. The bike went down. I broke the right mirror, the tip of the lever, scrapped my small fairing, and grip and peg. I got up and she had her head in her hands crying. It would have been 2'nd degree but I let it go.

This wasn't me, but it's a great story...
A friend of mine from Oregon was riding home late one night after work.
So he comes up to this four-way stop. As he slows, approaching the intersection, he notices a police cruiser parked across the way, facing him. Not wanting to get pulled over for something stupid, my buddy makes sure he comes to a complete stop. Trouble is, he is so focused on the cop he forgets to put his foot down.
Yup. He fell right over. The cop immediately turned on the lights and rolled over. He made my friend do a breathalyzer test, walk the line, the whole 9 yards. FINALLY convinced that he wasn't drunk (just stupid), the cop helped him get the bike upright and sent him on his way.

this isn't about my bike, but back in the mid 85's my father had a 450 yamaha that he couldn't get to start, so he had a brite idea about having my mom pull it with his truck (pull start)....well anyway he got it to turn over and yelled in triumph and my mom thought he said "STOP" and slamed on the brakes....my dad hit the back of the truck without realizing she stopped that quickly and flew over the tailgate... he was okay but needless to say it started a nice fight....

Dumbest?? So much material, so little space... In my infinite wisdom I came to the conclusion that hitting the curb while pulling into the drive would be tough on the rim. Soooo I'd always come up to the curb, slow down and hit it at a shallow angle. One day I was laying at the base of my drive, wondering WTF happened, with a sporty on me, it was that fast. Oh yeah the neighbors got a chuckle otta that one. Needless to say, I slow way the hell down and let the shocks do what they are supposed to do.
Lake... you okay today?
