Low rider hard to start

Hi, Im new to this forum. I did a search did not find any thing sounds like my prob. I have an 06 Low Rider had it about 2 years 17,000 miles. When I got it, it tiurn over about 2 times fire up just fine, lately its taking longer to start. turns over fine, just takes longer to start then runs good. thought mabe some of your experience might help me start, fuel filter, pump,? I changed the plugs about 6000 miles back, air filter is new. I do think its running rich. And it does have fuel injection. Thx

Start with a little more info. Is it the original battery, and is it kept on a tender? Is it only the first start of the day, or is it all starts? My first guess would be battery going flat in the absence of better information.

It may be that the only purpose for your life is to serve as a warning to others.

There is a thread or two on here about Battery Tenders. You can find a lot on Google as well. Here is a link to one at a very reputable and well known supplier.

Pull the battery and bring it to get tested. The cold cranking amps are probably too low.

Also if the battery checks out ok check and change your leads, even if the ends look good its what you cannot see that may hide the problem.

They can corrode and lose there current carrying ability, hence why even a good battery wont do you any good. Check that your ground is nice, tight and clean.

I will have the battery checked, but to help me understand, even if the engine seems to turns over OK it still could be the battery? This is why I didnt consider it before, it turns over ok, it just takes longer to start.I have noticed if I hit the starter for a few seconds, let off, then hit the starter again it starts right up. I hope yall are right, thats what sombody at work told me too, a battery and/or cables is easy. I want to try to get ahead of this before it becomes a real problem.
