I did it all by myself and if you knew me, that would show you that anyone can do it. I've got the cap sticking out just like everyone else and nobody has ever said a word about it. If you know what a wrench is and can turn it just a little, you shouldn't have any problems. I can't see where you need any special motorcycle specific knowledge to do the job. It was easy.

Just installed FXDC Forward controls

Hi Guys,

Just joined tonight. Bought a new FXDC a few months ago and just fitted HD forward controls. Left the original shaft and fwd selector in. A good solution is to buy a softail deluxe chrome blanking cap that goes on the rear gear change spline when it is removed. Fits nicely on original Dyna spline. As I'm 6ft the fwd controls are the best thing I've put on the bike. Not only is it really comfortable to ride but it feels like a proper feet fwd Harley. The mids were to sports bike like. IMHO. The bike is now perfect for me.

I'm glad that it's not that hard to install the controls since one of the bikes I'm looking at doesn't have them.

Also, order a J&P catalog. Even if you don't order from them, gives you good ideas and prices to work from. I think a good, cheaper set of FWD controls is around $300 to $400, and all the way up to $1,000, but man are those ones pretty. Lol.

I think it looks better with stuff sticking out and cut, it shows you work on your own bike and has absolutely nothing to do with being cheap...
