The crash bars I have on my '11 SuperGlide Custom are H-D Guards and don't use the holes that are there for the forward controls. They clamp at the bottom with U-Bolts. I have no idea if they would fit a '09.
That's correct according to HD that uses same part # for my 08 FXDL and your 09 FXDC.
As attached picture shows, lower mounts do not use the same mounts as my forward controls. They use a u-clamp around the frame. These are HD engine guards.

Looking at your photo of 2008 FXDL 105 Anniversary bike and the way your bars are mtd. makes me want to do the same on my bike. Problem is that mine is '05 w/ fwd. controls and all the sources I check out only offer such bars for mid mtd. controls. I keep searching but yet to come up with anything and the thoughts of dropping my bike and doing even cosmetic damage is not good. I'll keep looking but do have access to machine/weld shop and may well end up mfg. such engine guards. Anyone out there that knows a source I have missed, would much appreciate pointing me in the right direction.
When I bought my Kuryakyn front controls from Dennis Kirk the site said they wouldn't fit my bike with an engine guard. There were a couple of comments that yes they would in the reviews.
If your bars don't use the holes at the front of the frame and instead uses U bolts to the frame at the bottom forward controls will work with NO clearance issues. The H-D engine guard I had installed at the dealer was this sort of bar.
Instructor, the engine guard off of a wide glide will fit your FXD. I just installed one on my 04 that I bought from my dealer two weeks ago. It bolts to the down tubes instead of where the forward controls go.
I have H-D Engine bars 49010-06 (the chrome version) and H-D forward controls mounted on Accutronix Kick-Back Adapters on my 2008 Low Rider. As stated above the engine bars use U-bolts leaving the mounting lugs for the forward controls free.
