Switch
Replaced the right side turn signal and works great. Replace mastercylinder brake switch but when I put the wires togather they get real hot and smoke. All marker lights stay bright but dime when I hit the barkes.
Thanks

You might have pinched a wire in your switch housing. Check out the red one. Sam.

I still have every thing open and hanging down. The 2 wires going to the turn signal switch must be right because it works correct. Then I have the other 2 wires hanging down and both wires are hot and that's wrong correct, one should be a ground? When I connect to the brake switch all marker light go bright, but when I hit the brakes they all go dim, and wires smoke. I'm thinking theres a brake in the harness some where and need to pull it and trace them back?

It sounds like somewhere you have a brake wire grounded. Swithched power comes into the brake switch via the orange wire. It goes thru the brake switch and comes out red on the way to the brake lite. It all grounds thru the lite bulb and lite housing. If the red wire is touching the frame ( is grounded) it will get hot when you activate the brake and feed it power. The short can be any where on the red circuit even from the back brake, but if you just had the hand controls off I would start there. Sam.

Just got back with new test light, one side power and other ground. Connect the 2 wires by color and gets hot and smokes. Going to trace by on the red wire with my luck will be in the middle of the handle bars.

Connecting a positive and a negative WILL result in smoke.
Follow the "grounded" wire and you'll find te dead short.......
Electrical issues suck sometimes. Stick with it....you'll fix it.

Have to take my hat off to you guys, you were right just traced the wires backwards to the rear brake light. And the harness of wires running along the inside of the rear fender, the wires were riding on the tire. To much slack in it, and wore through and most of the wires are bare and all meshed together. Guess now its cut and splice time..
Thanks again..

Glad to see you found the problem, and no marshmellow roasting happened.....
