Help....heated vest
I need some help with my BMW heated vest, ( used to ride a 02 K1200 LTC ) wanting to be able to plug into the Harley, ( 07 Ultra Classic ) power outlet. The BMW end on the wire is smaller than the Harley power outlet and do they make an adapter the make it possible to use it or do I need to splice another end on the power cord ????? If it has to be spliced I can use some heat srink to help weather proof it but would like a factory end.
Thanks

If you no longer have the BMW, I'd put the correct male end on the vest, to fit the HD. You can buy them at any auto parts store, or even radio shack.
OR......keep your bike outlet for something else, and place a Battery-Tender plug on the vest, with a long enough cord, and plug it into your Battery-Tender line to the battery.

Your Battery Tender IS on a fuse.....if it's a Battery Tender brand.

There is a P&A plug under the seat , mostly used for heated hand grips and the lead you will need to splice to your Beemer gear is listed in the heated hand grip parts break down . The P&A plug is grey and is located in the cavity ahead of the battery compartment . That plug is hot always and is protected by the maxi -fuse . Part number 70310-04 is the lead you need !

I looked at some bikes yesterday that had the heated gear plugs on them , they appear to be similar to 1/4 inch electric guitar cord jacks . I dought that those would pass enough current to power heated gear though . The lead I mentioned previously would get you B+ but you'll still need a ground . The ground for your gear should ONLY go to a " dirty ground " , not the neg. at the battery . The " dirty ground " on your bike is in the same cavity as that grey P&A connector , it is the left ground stud on the frame .

Looking to learn
Hi, please explain a "dirty ground" ? Why shouldn't the electric gear ground go direct to battery? What difference could it make if all connections good? Thanks...
