Turn signals work for a few miles and then stop working
I searched for my issue, but did not see much, so here goes...
I bought a '02 Sportster with 860 miles on it. Before I ride I check the signals and they work. They continue to work for a bit and then a few miles into my ride they stop working. After stopping if I keep fiddling with the turn signals, they eventually start to work again.
Someone said it might be a combo of an older bike with low mileage. But to me it seems odd that it would work in the beginning and then stop.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

You need to get a manual, and go through the process of troubleshooting them. The turn signals are controled by a module. If the ground for the module (one of the testing procedures) is OK, then usually the module is bad, at the tune of $200.
Your mileage, (although painfully low) has nothing to do with it. electronics don't go bad, like bread, sitting on a kitchen counter, unless of course the bike sat outside in the elements.

Thanks. I am new to riding, but I'll see what I can do about fixing the ratio of kickstand wear to bike wear. Today was my first venture out on the road, commuting to work and it was great.
Since I am new, what does RUB mean?

Well....seeing you bought the bike used, YOU'RE not the reason for the ubber low mileage.
RUB stands for: Rich Urban Biker.
These are the guys that go out on a Saturday, buy a brand new Roadking, $1200 in new leathers, a new HD helmet and 10 tee shirts and 5 pairs of HD blue jeans, THEN proceed to park it in their garage and show it to all their friends, or ride directly to Starbucks in all their new garb, and pose next to their bike, bragging about the great trips they've never been on, or how much they know about Harleys. Their life is being seen on the bike, or next to it, vs being on it. They believe, in their own small, feeble minds, that owning a Harley instantly makes you a bad ass, or gives you some sort of street-cred, and changes your life and the way people view you.
We all know at least one.....

Hey Dave.....since I've been a member here I knew the basics of a RUB but that's an understandable definition.....thanks
Would you mind defining a poser? LOL
Seriously....and thanks in advance.
I'm still in identity crisis since buying a Harley and I need to know what I am....LMAO I'm damn sure not a RUB...but I need to know if I have any poser in me.

That's the RUB that puts his new leather jacket and boots in the dryer, to make them look old and road worn......
Let's not start another one of those annoying, "What's a poser" threads.........
