Eliminating Smart Security System ?

Hello....I recently purchased my first Harley, a 2007 Low Rider. I agonized long and hard over wether to buy an older bike with a carburator, or a newer bike with fuel injection.
Decided on an older bike, so of course found a newer bike I just had to have.
This bike has the factory security system on it and after reading the owners manual on it and finding out the procedure involved with starting it if the battery in the fob goes dead or reseting the pin number, or trailering it, I was wondering if it is possible to eliminate this system from my bike. Can you just pull the module and antenna, or replace it. or is it not possibe to remove it.
If not I will have to photo copy about three pages worth of instructions and carry around in my wallet.

The HD shop can remove it . The TSSM has to be swaped out with a TSM and the ECM has to be reprogrammed . Much less expensive to just replace the battery yearly or practice using the PIN .

Hello...Thanks for the info. I think I will take your advice for now. I just recieved an owners manual and it has punch out laminated cards in the back with instructions printed on it for using the pin and setting it to trailering mode. It is nice to know it is possible to eliminate if trouble occurs down the road.

It's not really that hard to start it using the pin number. 30-40 seconds after you do it once. Push both signals til the lights flash. Then left signal to scroll thru to correct number. Left signal to move to next number. Has a 5 diget pin and Varoooomm it's running. Programing your own pin number takes 15 seconds more.

The hardest part is remembering the pin number, IMHO.
You should have gotten 2 key fobs with the bike. What I did was open one of the fobs and turned the battery around inside it so there's no drain on it. This way if the main fob's battery goes dead I simply turn the battery around in the other one and it's good to go. Also, with the battery disconnected in the fob I can keep the fob in one of the bike's bags without worrying that it's deactivated the alarm should someone get any ideas of rolling away with it.

Every once in a while I use the PIN to disarm the system to help me remember what the PIN is. Plus it's good practice in case the battery does go dead out on the road somewhere.

if you have the owners manual, there is a laminated tear out card with step by step instructions on all the manual disarm features and a place to record your PIN. It's for your wallet.

Thanks for all the input. I have reset pin and practiced using it instead of fob. Not a terrible procedure if I remember to do it occasionally to keep the steps down. I also like the idea of turning the battery around in the second fob to keep it from draining, pretty creative.
