Skull gas cap wiring

I bought a used set of skull gas cap and led fuel gauge and am trying to install them on my 2004 nighttrain. I do not have instructions and see that there is 4 wires on the cap and only 3 on the bike. The guy i bought them from said he only hooked up the 3 and the low fuel light came on when you filled up the bike, does anyone know how to wire these up?

three of the wires go to the fuel guage connector under the tank.the grey wire hooks into your speedo connector under the dash. which cavity it goes in i cannot remember.
