08' Ultra with electrical problems

I have an 08' 105th Ultra with 15,000 miles, well to start with less then 100 miles they had to replace the throttle sensor. At 4500 miles they replaced the whole engine. I should have known something was wrong, well for the last 3 weeks it has been in the shop 6 times. All electrical, they have replace the Stator, regulator wiring harness, maxi fuse. They say it's fixed and they take it for a 50 mile ride and everything is fine, I pick it up and go for a 160 mile ride. and bring it right back.

What happens is the Volt gauge will start to drop to 8 volts and then go back up and down again.
While this is happening the Check engine light and the Battery light and the brake light comes on, and stays on. I have tried to figure out if it's something I'm doing, but what could it be. I have a Garmin Zumo wired into the bike, and it has a XM radio on it also, but that can't be drawing very much power.

I go to Latus Harley in Portland OR, they are the ones fixing the bike. The store manager called someone from Harley to get a trade in allowance, so I could buy a new bike. So I'm not sure how this works or how much Harley gives, but he was only able to get $2500. Now I don't know if he was just bulling me or what, does anyone know how this works. His he low balling me or what?
I was looking at buying a 2010 Ultra Limited.

Sounds like you got a intermitent short, many times in similar situations its the wiring harness itself has got pinched or otherwise defective.

No not your fault, still under the two year waruntee? HD needs to eat it big time if they wanta deal and pawn off another bike on yea. You should get at least High Kelly blue book for a trade. Really If they was treating you right it ought be a clean swap since it's proper repair is beyond them.

The battery light comes on ? ? ? I've tried a bunch of things to try to get that thing to come on with little success ... except disconnecting the tach ! Hmmmm ! Do ya think that maybe one of the tach wires is shorting across the fairing support or harness rubbed through where it lays against the radio cooling fins ?

I have done bussiness with Latus and they are very fare. I would not deal with Paradise. That being said I would just make them fix and fix it right. Treasa at latus is good in the service department. And we both know that now it is raining here in portland and it is a good time to get it fixed
